Why Parent Training Matters?

Children spend only a small proportion of their week in intervention, the greatest opportunities for learning actually happen during everyday routines at home, at school and within the community.

Our goal isn’t to turn parents into therapists, our Parent Workshops & Coaching aim to equip families with knowledge & practical strategies they can confidently apply in everyday life to support communication, learning, emotional regulation and independence.

Frequently Asked Questions.

1. Do I need to be a Miles client?

No. Our Parent Workshops & Coaching are open to both existing Miles families and the public. Families receiving intervention services at Miles enjoy the added benefit of complimentary parent coaching and training sessions as part of their child’s programme, helping to support skill generalisation and continued progress beyond therapy.

2. Can grandparents or caregivers attend?

Yes. We welcome parents, grandparents, domestic helpers and other caregivers who play an important role in supporting the learner. Consistency across different caregivers often helps children apply skills more successfully in everyday life.

3. Can workshops be customised?

Absolutely. In addition to our scheduled workshops, we also design customised workshops and coaching programmes for families, schools, organisations and community groups.

Training can be tailored in terms of topics, group size, duration, format (online or in-person), location and budget. Whether you are looking for a one-off workshop or an ongoing coaching programme, we will work with you to create a learning experience that best meets your objectives.

4. Can schools invite Miles to conduct workshops?

Yes. We have been invited by preschools and schools to conduct parent talks, workshops and training sessions for their parent communities. We also provide customised workshops, teacher training and consultation services for schools, organisations, healthcare providers and community groups. Topics can be tailored to your audience, objectives and learning needs.

5. Are online workshops available?

Yes. Selected workshops and coaching sessions are available online, allowing families to participate conveniently from anywhere. In-person workshops are also conducted at either Miles Autism Academy or at our sub office at Miles Training Centre next door, both located at Damansara Jaya, Petaling Jaya.

6. How do I know whether I need a workshop or personalised coaching?

It depends on your goals.

Public workshops are ideal if you would like to learn about a specific topic alongside other parents.

Personalised coaching is recommended if you are looking for guidance tailored to your child’s unique strengths, challenges or your family’s specific concerns. If you are unsure which option is more suitable, our team will be happy to discuss your needs and recommend the most appropriate learning option during a complimentary consultation.
